A home to Sir William Johnson, a popular public figure, built Johnson Hall State Park in 1763 and was later, acquired by the state in 1906 making it a historic site. House tours are offered to stroll in this site and feel like Sir William Johnson and how it bustled with activity during those times.
A Georgian style, 73 acres mansion built in 1763 was a great place of stay for many American Bureaucrats. After its owner s (Schuylers) death in 1804, it was used as a Roman Catholic Orphanage until 1886.
It was declared a State Historic Site on 17 October, 1917. These days it is reduced in size that once had lavish gardens, parks, orchards and fields. It is a good site for school tours.
In 1927, it was declared a State Historic Site and a National Historic Landmark in 1963.A special event is held annually depicting its historical value. Hudson Valley Raptor Center is a resting highway for most of endangered species of birds. Every year numerous numbers of migratory raptors use this valley. If you want to see some of these species, then come here.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art consists of works of art pieces collected from all over the world for the past 50 centuries, from prehistory to present. Canoe Picnic Point State Park is accessible by a boat only. It has lots of wood lands offering all facilities for an ideal picnic.
Bayswater Point State Park is spread in 12 acres on the eastern shore of Jamaica Bay. The wet marsh lands, vegetation, trees, lots of woodland and beaches makes it a beautiful tourist attraction.
Many native and migratory birds are found in abundance. Due to this it has become an out door classroom or observatory. Many schools come here for studying nature. The main objective of this park is to sustain the natural systems.
Located on a peninsula that stretches out to Delta Reservoir, Delta Lake State Park has jungles combined with sandy beaches. All the facilities are available here. Glimmerglass State Park offers a spectacular view of the Otsego Lake. Every thing in this park is of picturesque quality. In both summer and winter its a great place to visit.
Situated between two water shores, Kring Point State Park is made of thousands of islands. All water related facilities are available here. A stunning 167 ft waterfall awaits you at Chittenango Falls State park. It can be viewed from both the bottom and top. Ancient bedrock is responsible for creating this superb site. A picnic spot not to be missed with all amenities.
Many islands have gathered to make Hudson River Islands State Park a place where many endangered plant and animal species co exists. A huge Harriman State Park with lots of lakes, miles of hiking trails, vast wooden areas makes it an amusing picnic destination with all this wildlife and other amenities.
Max V. Shaul State Park is a quite and shady picnic spot where you can enjoy your isolation. You also have many playgrounds here. It also offers recreational facilities to campers.
