You will find in South Carolina Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum that presents everything connected to Air Force during a war. Aircraft carrier Yorktown, bomber planes, their hangar bays and mementoes of the crew are all on display. A five minute air war with Iraq is shown and it also has a Golf Course, if you need a change.
Developed in 1930, Brookgreen Gardens shows art and nature development. Many sculptured by famous artists are depicted here. It also has a wildlife park and a guided kayak tour takes you through these beautiful landscapes. World s longest underwater tunnel with a walking path is located at Ripley s Aquarium Visitors Center. You can walk through and are surrounded by sharks, reef fishes and moray eels. You can also touch its winged inhabitants.
It also deserves a look at some beautiful locations like Rio Amazon, Living Gallery, a Discovery center and Rainbow Rock. Hunting Island State Park has lots of wildlife and it provides a spectacular view of the shoreline and the only lighthouse in Carolina. It used to be game park, but now it has developed and is a paradise for wildlife seekers.
Along the South Carolina coast and in the heart of Grand Strand, Myrtle Beach State Park is one of the last natural areas. It was built in 1930 and is the 1st state park which is open for public. It has all the local activities. The most challenging trails for hiking are in Table Rock State Park. The entire park (including the mountains) is registered on National Register of Historic Places. Other amenities are available. River s Bridge State Park stands a mute spectator to a battle that was fought in 1865. All the facilities related to a wonderful picnic are available here.
The 35 acre Colleton State Park is popular among inter state travelers. It is a few minutes drive from I 95. People also enjoy the waters of river Edisto in this relaxed place. Still under construction, Palmetto Trail when completed will connect Blue Ridge Mountains to Atlantic Ocean. It has many trails and picturesque passages in its park. Sumter National Forest is the place where you can enjoy your stay at a secluded place in a jungle. Built in 1780, Kings Mountain National Military Park and Kings Mountain State Park are beautifully located offering all amenities.
85 mile long trails are there in Foothills Trail and these are raw, rugged, steep and mountainous. Wilderness is also there. Primitive facilities are available. 2486 acres of Santee State Park is accessible from two state highways. It has cabins and two lake fronts with abundance of fish. Many fish competitions are held annually. A full village has also constructed adding feathers to its cap.
On the most popular in the state, Russell Lake is located Calhoun State Park. All water related amenities are available here. The Edisto River goes through Givhans Ferry State Park, offering its paddlers a chance to explore the world of wildlife or scientific study in these 988 acres of park. It used to be a ferry crossing in 18th and 19th centuries, but was developed into a tourist resort.
Cypress trees on the upper end of lake are the best kept secrets of Cheraw State Park. It is located in sand hills region and has a lake spread in 360 acres. A Golf Course laid down on cascading hills is also available. Constructed in 1820 1835 Landsford Canal State Park is scattered in 460 acres. It is situated on four canals that were constructed on River system of Catawba Watree. Boats were used to carry goods to and from the coast. World s largest population of rocky shoals spider lilies lies on Catawba River s rocky shoals. It is registered with National Historic Places.
