It happened. My sweet prince came and swept me off my feet. He gave ma a ring and the wedding day is set, but now the panic sets in. I have a whole wedding to plan! I have been waiting for this day my whole life and I m not going to mess it up. Let s see . . . I need to pick a dress, my wedding colors, flowers, centerpieces, register for gifts, send invitations, plan the meal, pick bridesmaids, pick a reception hall, pick a minister. . . the list was getting longer by the minute. How could I ever get everything done in time? I know, I ll call my dearest mother. Moms always know what to do. They know best after all; well, sometimes.
As soon as I called her, things started to fall into place. She was so happy for me and my husband to be. “This is going to be a perfect day,” she told me. The first thing we did was go shopping. What better way to kick things off? We went everywhere we could think of looking for ideas of what we wanted. We found things we liked, hated, and things that just made us laugh. One thing was certain, I wanted a traditional wedding, but wanted my own personal style to show through.
As the planning progressed, I started to think about how I wanted to remember this perfect day I was planning. I d seen the traditional guest books, but thought they looked a little old fashioned and besides, it would end up in a box somewhere and never be looked at again. Soon I was on a mission – a mission to find the perfect memory keeper. As I was searching the internet one day, I found it. I found the perfect solution to my problem – As You Wish Pottery.
They have the most wonderful wedding platters. They are beautifully hand painted, personalized with your unique wedding information (my name, my husband’s name and the special, sacred date) and you can buy a special pen so that your guests can sign them. My only question was regarding how long the pen’s ink would last on the slick ceramic surface. Then I was so excited to find out that there is an extremely easy baking process to permanently seal in the signatures forever.
It was just what I was looking for. I just had to get it!
Finally the big day arrived. Everything went perfect. Okay, there were a couple of little things that went wrong, but perfect enough. One thing I know is that I will never forget who was there to share my perfect day with me. I won t tuck their names away in a book somewhere where I will forget about it or lose it. I have my platter to display proudly. Every time I pull it out, it reminds me of that wonderful day. When I read the names, it helps me to remember those little memories of the day. Each name has a story and brings a smile to my face. I am so glad that I found this treasure.
