It is no secret that you cannot make money online if you are not driving traffic to your site. Improving your page ranking is a great way drive that traffic. Consider also that you want traffic that will have some interest in what you are doing or offering. Responding to an internet ad something like 10,000 visitors to your site for only a few dollars will not give you your desired results. If you actually receive that many hits, chances are they from a high school computers class.
In this article I will list several ways to help drive traffic to your site and improve your web page ranking. Since all of the ways are time consuming, you probably will not do all of them. Select the ones that work well for you. You might also select the ones you would like to work with and blend them in as you become proficient with the ones you started with.
Free or almost free resources
Article marketing. You can direct link to your site as well as receive a backlink when the article is published.
Forum marketing. Make a quality comment or post with your website in the signature.
Blogging. Link to your site by posting to a number of free blogs available.
Blog comments. Comment on other blogs in your niche for a backlink.
Video Marketing. Your video posted on a video site contains your website URL. Comment on related videos for a backlink.
Affiliates. If you have your own product enlist other marketers to market it.
Joint Ventures. Arrange with an other marketer to cross promote your products. This generally takes an email list of some size. This could also be done by exchanging ad space in your newsletters.
Social Sites. Many marketers use social sites to improve web page ranking. Sites such a Myspace, Twitter, and Facebook are used by many to get there message out. Those sites require there own way of marketing. I would recommend obtaining an ebook or tutorial on each site to walk walk you through the procedures.
Social Bookmarking Sites. Bookmarking your articles with several bookmarking sites can drive traffic to your site. You also get your site URL on another site for a backlink. There are probably a hundred bookmarking sites available. There are also some free programs available to help with the effort.
Paid Resources.
PPC. Pay per click advertising using Adwords or similar programs.
Ezine advertising. Purchase advertising in popular ezines.
Safelists. Send email ads to safelists.
Banner Exchanges. Purchase banner ad advertising.
Traffic Exchanges. You pay for the privilege of sending your ad to 50 to 100,000 email addresses. They also have banner marketing.
Seo. Search engine optimization. A large part of SEO is distributing key words in the article or blog title and include the keywords throughout the article. There are some differing opinions on just how this is done. SEO can either be a free process or paid.
All of the resources listed as either free or paid are often outsourced. Most of the resources are quite time consuming. In addition there are people who through native talent or time spent doing it can do a better and faster job than most marketers. There comes a time when marketers decide to spend their time to improve web page ranking or to developing strategies to further their business.
