Generators are used to supply electricity in case of power interruption. They are powered either with gasoline, diesel, propane gas or natural energy. Generators come in different types and models with differing purposes.

Power failures may result from bad weather or technical problems. It interrupts a workflow and is costly for production sites. At home, families are left with little things to do since most appliances require power.

Power backups come in handy in such situations. They are alternative sources of power.

Generators are devices capable of producing electric power. They are used as a back up power source for home and workshop in times of power interruption. These devices can also be used outdoors when there is no source of electricity, like in camp sites or job sites. It is very functional that many homeowners and business owners have invested in them already.

Nowadays there are many different kinds or models of generators specifically manufactured for different needs. The different types of generators include electric generators, portable generators, wind generators, emergency generators and RV generators. Each type has a specific function and advantage.

Portable generators are most commonly used in homes and outdoors. They are cheaper than the other types. It operates with diesel or gas. It is manually started to produce power. Depending on the model, it can last for several hours. Because it is portable, it can easily be transported anywhere, like in camping.

Wind generators produce electric power using energy from the wind. They are installed with either wind turbines or windmills. These wind turbines convert the kinetic energy of the wind, and is in turn converted to mechanical energy. The mechanical energy generated by the turbines will then pass through the windmill which will convert it to electric power. This type of generator is capable of powering many homes. They are common in residential areas where regular power supply is not reached.

Setting up wind generator is expensive because it requires putting up infrastructures. After the setup though, there are no more expenses since it depends on the energy of the wind.

RV generators are the modern types mostly used for trailer trucks, cabins, camp sites and motor homes. These are usually wheeled that can be towed easily. It can be powered using propane gas, gasoline or diesel. It is more powerful than portable generators and could supply electricity longer. It is equipped with mufflers because the machine is very noisy while running.

Emergency generators are commonly used in hospitals where the lives of patients attached to electronic devices are so important. Just a split second without power may endanger a patient’s life. Emergency generators are also used for commercial purposes such as factories and supermarkets where even the shortest period without power will cause delays in production or services. Emergency generators are powered automatically once there is a power outage or failure. It does not require any manual operation to power itself unlike other types of generators.

Emergency generators are powered with propane gas, gasoline or natural gas. These are very large and stationary. They could not easily be transported.
