Archery has been practiced since the olden times. It started as a battle method of old, to being an Olympic sport now. There are many types of archery equipment and tips on its usage.

Archery is regarded as a form of ancient technique. It purposely served battles or wars many years ago. Though it is no longer used in this modern age for battles, it has retained its popularity as a sport. It is considered a game of accuracy and precision, and many people are drawn to it.

During the ancient times in India, Egypt, Persia and Greece, fascinating stories about superb archers have left us intrigued and filled with awe about its great involvement in historical battlefields.

Its basic equipments, such as the arrows and bows, were actually developed during the early part of the Mesolithic Period or the latter part of the Paleolithic Period. Before, arrows were made from earlier pines. The materials used, especially for competitions, have changed through the years.

It is important that your archery equipment is appropriately constructed, with materials of the finest quality. If your bows are poorly made, you will have a hard time mounting your arrows. The arrows, on the other hand, should be effortlessly mountable on your bows. Otherwise, precision will be affected.

Commonly used bows for archery includes shortbows, longbows, and recurved bows, along with compound bows and flatbows and crossbows.

Longbows, as the name suggests, are very long. It is equal or longer than the user’s height. Flatbows have wider limbs with a rectangular cross section.

Compared to others, a shortbow is a bit shorter in length. It weighs lighter and good for short range aims. Years ago, it served hunting purposes.

Crossbows have limbs mounted in horizontal rather than vertical modes. Compound bows are easier to mount.

A conventional archery arrow has a nock, arrowhead, shaft and fletching gears. Shafts are usually made from carbon fibers, aluminum alloys, fiberglass and wood. They should be ideally flexible for easier handling.
Arrows made from carbon alloys are fast becoming popular and widely used. Such arrows are specifically used in Olympic sports.

It is important that your archery equipment doesn’t miss a target due to air pressure. This means that your fletching and arrowhead should be appropriately designed with the finest materials.

The Fletching and arrowhead provide the arrow’s balance. This fletching should comprise of bird or plastic feathers. It is along the arrow’s back end, helping in the arrow’s projectile motion.

Shooting an arrow involves a good physical balance. The eyes, body posture as well as the way that the archer holds the bow should also be precise and accurate. Thus, always use the proper archery equipments.

Here are some samples of archery equipment.
The lumenok is lightweight, adding only 22 grains onto your arrow’s weight. It does little or even no effect onto the flight. The nock is actually self contained, requiring no glue or magnets as well as switches or various moving parts. Moreover, it accepts Bohning, TCX Nock and Easton Super Uni nock types.

The Ripcord Arrow Rest Camo has an HD Quiet Draw launcher that arms the cock onto an upward position prior to drawing, while staying as you release your arrow. The “fall away” design eliminates fletching contact.

The Shuttle T Lock Broadhead can deliver perfect flights, apart from having expansive cutting” diameters and an ultra low drag blade design. It keeps blades in place.
