A good quality vacuum cleaner is an excellent investment in your home and in your home cleaning equipment. The quality and features of any vacuum cleaner is reflected in the price of the unit. You can often save money on vacuum cleaners by buying online.

The vacuum industry is making great strides in making powerful vacuum cleaners that weigh much less. Vacuums can lose suction when the filters or bags get clogged and blow dirt back into the air. Check out features vs. the weight to choose the right model for you.

A good vacuum cleaner should cost nothing to maintain. Make sure the height of the machine can be set low enough and that the plate and wheels don't scratch your floors. There are no standards set for sealed models.

Check the height of fully assembled attachments to make sure that you won't be bending over or holding your arm up to use them. Find out how often belts, filters, and other items will need to be cleaned and/or replaced. Canister vacuum cleaners that have onboard tool storage make tools handy to reach.

Higher priced uprights have a wider cleaning path, possibly dirt sensors, and some will be self-propelled; they may have pre-motor filters to protect the motor from damage too. Lower end uprights may have headlamps and/or bumper protection for your furniture. Find out the air watts to get a good indication of its suction power.

It'll cost more buying a unit with a bag because you'll be buying bags ongoing. If you buy a unit with a bag, you'll need to change bags frequently to cut down on the possibility of dirt, dust and other particle leakage. Make sure the machine feels comfortable.

When shopping for a new vacuum cleaner you want to buy a high quality vacuum cleaner and save money too. Of course you want to get the cleanest possible 'clean' for your carpets. Always check and see how long the warranty is good for; the longer the better of course.

A few different tools and wands may seem like a plus, but if you rarely ever use tools, they may just be an extra expense. Read the warranty fine print so you know exactly what's covered in the event it's defective or you need it repaired. Find out how much common replacement parts will cost.

True HEPA filters will have a serial number assigned to them if they're able to trap at least 99.97 percent of particles of .3 microns; these test results will be printed on the filter. A bagless vacuum that uses filters may leak dust, dust mites, mold spores, fungus, bacteria, smoke particles, chemicals and allergen particles into the air, so small you may not be able to see all of them. True or absolute HEPA filters are usually more expensive than other HEPA filters. HEPA-like or HEPA type filters may only capture only 85 to 90 percent of particles and that percent can fall even lower for particles of 1 micron and below, unlike the true or absolute HEPA filters.

You might consider one of the lightweight models if you have physical issues. HEPA filters trap small particles that may cause respiratory and other problems for asthma and allergy sufferers and others with health problems. Reducing or eliminating particles will make cleaner air for everyone in your home.

Take time to do your research, the same way you would for any major purchase and buying a vacuum cleaner won't be difficult. Make sure you comparison shop. Double check the reviews, ratings and opinions on the vacuum cleaner you've chosen.
