Too much information on a first date can sometimes be overwhelming. It is perfectly okay to talk about where you grew up, your career and your current life but some personal details should be kept private on a first date. Maybe when you get to know more about each other after several dates and have opened up about your personal lives can you talk about private details.
When on a date, turn off your mobile phone or put it in silent mode. A call can disturb your date and while some girls would want to make an impression that they are popular based on the number of calls that they get on a single night, you would impress your date more if you give him/her your full attention.
Don't talk too much about your exes. While it is perfectly fine to say that you had exes and how long you were together when your date asks about it, don't delve too much on the detailed information.
Avoid getting drunk on a first date. You don't want your date worried on how to get you home and worse seeing your throw up or vomit.
Go someplace where you think both you and your date will have a comfortable time and could engage in some private talk. Avoid places where most of your friends will usually be hanging out so as to avoid interrupting your date.
It is perfectly okay to talk about super serious issues but keeping topics light would be more ideal. If you do talk about serious topics observe your date's body language. He or she may be getting bored. It is time to change the topics.
The first date should be kept simple and short. A dinner, hanging out for coffee or desert would be best instead of spending the entire day together like maybe biking, apple picking, etc. You would want to save other activities for your second and succeeding dates in case you had a great time or you wouldn't be stuck with someone for the entire day in case the date doesn't go well as expected.
Don't expect too much on your first date.
In case the date doesn't go well be nice about it instead of pretending something happened or having your friends save you from a bad night. Always give your best. Be on time and show your best side even if you don't have any intentions of going out again. You may never know if in the future you might be dating your date's friend. Being rude would label you a jerk.
