As a result, the fabric takes a longer time to catch fire than other normal fires. Also, if the fabric contains high tenacity nylon in it, then it will act as an insulator. This means that the fabric will keep the person protected, to an extent, from the outer high temperatures. Flame resistant cotton is made in such a way that it will not retain flames. So, if you can remove the garment from the region of fire, then the flames will extinguish almost as soon as the contact is broken.
