The First Communion is a person’s first reception of the sacrament of Eucharist and a Roman Catholic ceremony; however, it is also practiced by some Protestant ethnicities such as the Lutherans. It is usually performed at age 7 or 8.
Such a tradition includes family gatherings accompanied by the fancy dressings to celebrate the occasion. Usually a veil and white gown is worn by girls to symbolize ‘purity’.
