Humberside is a non metropolitan county of England, which came into existence from 1 April 1974 to 1 April 1996. It was split into two equal parts on each side of the Humber valley that was created by using both parts of the East and West Ridings of Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, a part of Lindsey. The headquarters of county councils were at County Hall that is at Beverley, which were ascended from the East Riding.

Its biggest settlement and the only city that existed was Kingston upon Hull. The county is sprawled from World Newton on the north tip to a dissimilar World Newton, which is at its most southern mark.

Kingston upon Hull is located at northern bank of Humber Valley. It was created because of its geographical features as it proved a great help in trading done by ships in the earlier times.

A further charter was formed in 1440, to the town and established local government that consisted of a sheriff, mayor and twelve aldermen. Its port was utilized to export wool and import wine, making it a financial hub. Economically it prospered to great heights and was thus admired by the Americans too. Some of the buildings of 16 Th and 17 Th centuries are still preserved, which are Wilberforce House, these days it’s a museum that depicts the life of William Wilberforce. It played an important role in all wars of England and gained the city status in 1897.

The naval activities built the economy of Hull, as the fishing industry was running into rough weather, its busy port still handled cargo of 13 million tonnes annually. It also helped Rail services to prosper, increasing their capacity from ten trains per day to twenty two. Employment rate at the port also shot up.

Ferry services were provided to people traveling to Europe on Roll on Roll off ferry. Over a million passengers travel to and from Europe each year. Hulls port exploited the tourism potential by opening the old Humber Street Dock in the middle of city. It has hundreds of births for parking yachts and small sailing boats.

Industry in the city was initiated keeping chemical and health care of the people in mind. Many prominent companies such as Smith & Nephew, Seven Seas, BP and Reckitt Benckiser came up in Hull. They further got a push, when University of Hull through the Institute of Woundcare was created and along with the Hull York Medical School partnership deeds.

In the East Riding of Yorkshire, it was the largest settlement and the counties transport hub, Hull became naturally focused for retail shoppers and regions of Hull were changing and giving rise to encourage retailing and were developing commercially. These areas included the St Stephens and Quay West. A new Vue cinema, which opened on 21 December 2007, and is the first entirely digital cinema in the whole of Europe.

A new shopping centre constructed on the site where there was an old bus station is St. Stephen s. It is a 560,000 sq ft or 52,000 square meters plan. It is backed by a 24 hour super market store and shop units, residential areas and car parking is available in full steam.
Author Resource:- Andy Townsend thinks that not enough tourists go to Humberside and therefore the villages here are worth a look as they are off the beaten track. http://www.london-airport-shuttle.co.uk/book_london_coach.html
